What is CPR?

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, or CPR, is an essential life-saving technique used in emergency situations when a person's heartbeat or breathing has stopped. It involves a series of precise actions performed to maintain blood flow and provide oxygen to the vital organs until professional medical help arrives.
The main objectives of CPR are to restore oxygen supply to the brain, prevent brain damage, and increase the chances of survival. This technique involves a combination of chest compressions and rescue breaths, aiming to mimic the functions of a person's heartbeat and respiratory system.
Chest compressions are the primary component of CPR. By applying rhythmic pressure to the chest, it helps circulate blood throughout the body. This process helps maintain oxygenation to the vital organs, especially the brain. The rescuer needs to position their hands correctly on the center of the person's chest and push down forcefully and deeply. The depth and speed of the compressions are crucial for its effectiveness.

Rescue breaths are another element of CPR. After a set of compressions, the rescuer leans over the person's mouth and nose and provides two gentle breaths. This process replenishes the oxygen supply in the person's body and helps eliminate carbon dioxide. The rescuer needs to ensure an airtight seal and deliver breaths effectively.
It's important to note that the CPR technique has undergone modifications over the years to adapt to changing guidelines based on research (evidence-based medicine). Current guidelines recommend those not working in healthcare provide hands-only CPR for adults.

Learn to save a life today!

CPR plays a vital role in the chain of survival during emergencies such as sudden cardiac arrest or drowning incidents. It buys precious time for professional medical personnel to arrive and provide advanced life support. Proficiency in CPR is crucial for everyone, not just healthcare professionals. Prompt initiation of CPR by a bystander significantly increases the chances of survival. Everyone should be aware of the basic principles of CPR and be ready to act swiftly when faced with a life-threatening situation. Remember, CPR can make a significant difference in saving a person's life. Knowing this technique and being prepared to act could be the difference between life and death for someone in need.

Why Learn CPR?

Learning Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a crucial skill that can potentially save lives. In our unpredictable world, emergencies can strike at any time and in any place. Whether you are a healthcare professional, a parent, a teacher, or an individual concerned about the wellbeing of others, learning CPR is an essential life skill. Here are a few compelling reasons why everyone should consider learning CPR:

  • Prompt Action Saves Lives

In a cardiac arrest situation, every second counts. Immediate and effective CPR can help maintain blood circulation and provide necessary oxygen to the brain and vital organs until medical professionals arrive. The faster you initiate CPR, the higher the chances of saving a person's life. By learning CPR, you become an active bystander who can step in during these critical moments and provide lifesaving assistance.

  • Preparation for Unexpected Emergencies

Accidents can happen anywhere – at home, at work, or even in public places. Learning CPR equips you with the knowledge and skills to respond confidently and effectively to cardiac emergencies. By having this lifesaving skill, you can contribute to the well-being and survival of others in times of crisis, providing reassurance and support to both the victim and those around you.

  • Empowerment and Confidence

Knowing CPR instills a sense of empowerment within individuals. It eliminates the helplessness that often accompanies witnessing a medical emergency. By learning the proper techniques and protocols for CPR, you can confidently step forward during emergencies and provide immediate assistance. The empowerment gained from knowing you have the ability to make a positive difference is immeasurable.

  • Creating Safer Communities

Imagine a world where everyone knew CPR. At Rescue Training Solutions, we believe that by collectively educating ourselves on CPR, we can build stronger and safer communities. By spreading awareness and knowledge, we inspire others to learn CPR as well. Having more trained individuals within a community enhances the overall preparedness and ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies.

  • Enhancing Job Opportunities

In many professions, having CPR certification is highly beneficial and sometimes even required. Healthcare providers, lifeguards, teachers, and many other roles involving public safety often require CPR training and certification. By learning CPR, you expand your job opportunities, making yourself more marketable to potential employers who prioritize the safety and well-being of their staff and customers.

I participated in on of Joel’s CPR workshops. The workshop was very thorough, with a hands on practice. By the end of the workshop I felt I have the tools and knowledge to handle such undesired situation. As a mother of a 10 months old, I believe this workshop is mandatory for every parent. Joel was kind and pleasant, answered all of our questions and covered everything there is to know in such cases. Highly recommended.

Some Facts:

In one year alone, 475,000 Americans die from a cardiac arrest, and more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital each year. CPR – or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating. Research shows that nearly 45 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest victims survive when bystander CPR is administered. The majority of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occurs at public settings and at home. Immediate CPR can double or triple the chances of survival after cardiac arrest. For the general public that do not work in healthcare, and do not need a certificate of completion for job requirements, we recommend attending an AHA Family & Friends® CPR Course. The American Heart Association’s Family & Friends® CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of recognizing emergencies, adult Hands-Only CPR, adult CPR with breaths, child CPR, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and relief of choking for adults, children, and infants.

These topics can be presented together or taught separately as stand-alone modules. Skills are taught by using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows participants to practice on a CPR training manikin while observing a demonstration of the skills in the course video or by an instructor.

AHA Family & Friends® CPR Course is intended for anyone who wants to learn CPR, but does not need a CPR course completion certificate to meet a job requirement. This course is ideal for community groups, new, expecting, and existing parents, grandparents, caregivers, babysitters, teachers, students, and others interested in learning how to save a life.

Space for course delivery

We don’t need much space to conduct a course - all we need is enough room for all participants to sit (couch, chairs, bench), and a small empty space on the floor to practice CPR on our manikins. From our experience, a typical sized living room usually fits a group of 8 participants comfortably.

Hands-Only Family & Friends CPR
This course is very important for parents and parents to be. In just over 2 hours Joel took the time to explain basic concepts in life saving and what to do upon a choking incident. He responded very patiently to everyone’s questions, making sure everything was clear. I highly recommend this course.
